The streets of Berbice came alive on Sunday, March 03, as the annual Mashramani costume and float parade took center stage, showcasing the vibrant culture and unity of the Guyanese people.
With over 10 floats participating and hundreds of spectators lining the streets, the event was a resounding success in celebrating Guyana’s rich heritage.
Starting from Tacama Turn in Stanleytown, New Amsterdam, the floats made their way along the main street, captivating audiences with colorful costumes, lively dance performances, and creatively designed floats that reflected the diverse cultural tapestry of Guyana.
Spectators enthusiastically cheered on the parade, adding to the festive atmosphere that filled the air.
Senior Minister within the Office of the President with Responsibility for Finance, Dr. Ashni Singh, commended the dedication and hard work of the organizers and participants, emphasizing the significance of the event in celebrating Guyana’s cultural diversity and promoting unity among its people.
Joining the festivities were Region Six Chairman, David Armogan, and Regional Executive Officer, Narindra Persaud, who participated in the parade alongside the Regional Democratic Council (RDC) float.
Both officials echoed the sentiment of unity and cultural pride, highlighting the importance of such events in fostering a sense of community spirit.
In a statement, the RDC expressed gratitude to the planning committee, government ministries, private entities, and all stakeholders who contributed to the success of Mashramani 2024 in Berbice.
Their collaborative efforts ensured that the event was a memorable celebration of Guyanese culture and unity.
As the parade concluded, the streets of Berbice were filled with a sense of joy and camaraderie, reflecting the spirit of togetherness that defines the Mashramani celebrations across the nation.
