Combatting Dengue: Ministry of Health Issues Prevention Guidelines

Dengue, a viral infection transmitted by mosquitoes, poses a significant health risk, particularly in tropical and subtropical climates.

While many individuals infected with the dengue virus may not display symptoms, those who do often experience fever, headache, body aches, nausea, and rash.

In severe cases, dengue can lead to hospitalization and, in some instances, prove fatal.

To mitigate the spread of dengue, the Ministry of Health emphasizes the importance of preventive measures against mosquito bites.

Dr. Reza Niles, speaking on the program ‘Health Matters’, underscores the need for individuals to protect themselves both indoors and outdoors.

Measures such as ensuring the presence of shades and reducing mosquito breeding sites are crucial steps in minimizing the risk of bites.

Furthermore, the Vector Control Department of the Ministry of Health conducts fogging exercises to combat mosquito populations.

Citizens are advised to cooperate by allowing fogging mist to enter their homes through open windows while taking precautions to protect food items, drinking water, and pets.

Individuals with asthma are cautioned to avoid exposure to fogging droplets.

As part of ongoing efforts to raise awareness about dengue prevention, tonight’s NCN Health report, sponsored by Essential Care Pharmacy and GTM Insurance, underscores the significance of community engagement and proactive measures in safeguarding public health.
