Khalil, Rahaman & Alli Triumph in Squash Handicap Tournament

Georgetown Club on Camp Street buzzed with excitement as Jason-Ray Khalil, Ryan Rahaman, and Kaden Alli emerged victorious in the Ministry of Sport and Bounty Farms Handicap Squash tournament held over the weekend.

In the elite category, Jason-Ray Khalil showcased his prowess by defeating Alex Arjoon in a thrilling two-set match, claiming the top spot with scores of 15-9 and 15-12.

Peter De Groot secured third place by overcoming Steven Xavier in a closely contested match with scores of 16-14, 13-15, and 15-7.

In the open category, Ryan Rahaman outplayed Lloyd Fung-A-Fat to clinch the title, while Kaden Alli emerged victorious over Egan Bulkan with scores of 8-15, 15-7, and 15-7.

Among the top players in the tournament were Miguel Wong, Mary Fung-A-Fat, and Jibril Alli, who showcased exceptional skills and sportsmanship on the court.

Deji Dias, the organizer of the event, expressed optimism about the future of squash in Guyana, highlighting plans to increase its popularity through outreach programs and school involvement.

With a newly established facility owned by the government, Dias believes that squash participation will rise nationally.

The tournament, sponsored by the Ministry of Sport and Bounty Farms Limited, marked an important milestone in promoting squash and nurturing local talent in Guyana.
