Agriculture Minister Engages Corentyne Communities on Budget Benefits

Continuing its efforts to communicate the advantages of the 2024 budget, the government has been actively engaging residents across the country.

Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha, embarked on a visit to several communities in the Corentyne, Berbice region on Tuesday as part of this initiative.

During the outreach, Minister Mustapha unveiled plans for significant Drainage and Irrigation (D&I) works in the region, in addition to the construction of Hope-like canals.

He disclosed that preparations are underway for the construction of an embankment, with contracts set to be awarded imminently.

Urging farmers to resume production in the region, he assured them of necessary support from the government.

Furthermore, Minister Mustapha encouraged residents to avail themselves of the training programs offered in the agriculture sector.

These programs aim to equip individuals with skills essential for maximizing agricultural productivity and efficiency.

Residents of Chesney, Belvedere, and Williamsburg had the opportunity to voice their concerns during the engagement.

Minister Mustapha assured them that their feedback would be duly noted and efforts would be made to address their issues.

In conclusion, Minister Mustapha’s visit underscored the government’s commitment to fostering agricultural development and ensuring that communities are informed about the benefits outlined in the 2024 budget.
