As preparations for Guyana’s 54th Republic Anniversary and Mashramani celebrations are underway, approximately 800 vending spots have been designated along the float parade route.

Since the availability of vending spots, City Mayor Alfred Mentore has confirmed that they are quickly being sold, reflecting a high demand for participation in the Mashramani Day festivities.

Mayor Mentore emphasized that the initiative to open up vending spots aligns with the city’s commitment to promoting local entrepreneurship and enriching the vibrant atmosphere of Mashramani Day.

Mayor Mentore outlined the diverse range of vending spots available, catering to various activities such as picnicking, children’s entertainment, photography, cool-down carts, and portable toilets.

The spots are priced between six thousand and twenty thousand Guyanese dollars, offering vendors a range of options based on their preferences and budgets.

The allocation of vending spots will be conducted through a fair and transparent process, ensuring equal opportunities for interested vendors.

Mayor Mentore encourages vendors to apply early to secure their spots along the parade route.

In terms of post-event cleanliness, Mayor Mentore assured that the Solid Waste Department will be proactive in cleaning up after the celebrations.

The cleanup efforts will commence after the last float has passed, aiming to restore the city to its pristine state by the following morning.

The theme for the Mashramani Float Parade 2024, commemorating Guyana’s Republic Anniversary, is “Celebrating Our Peoples and Our Prosperity.”

As the nation gears up for this grand celebration, the provision of vending spots adds an extra dimension to the festivities, empowering local entrepreneurs and enhancing the overall experience for participants and spectators alike.
