In a disappointing series for the West Indies cricket team, they suffered a whitewash against Australia, losing all three ODIs, with the last match resulting in a defeat by eight wickets.
Batting first, the West Indies endured a dismal performance, being bowled out for just 86 runs in 24.4 overs.
This marked the Caribbean side’s fifth-lowest total in ODI history. Only Alick Athanaze (32), Roston Chase (12), and Kacy Carty (10) managed to reach double figures, with Xavier Bartlett leading the Australian bowling attack with figures of 4 for 21.
In response, the Aussies chased down the target comfortably, reaching 87 for 2 in just 6.5 overs, with Jake Fraser McGurk (41) and Josh Inglis (32) guiding them to victory.
The match, which lasted only three hours, including the innings break, became the shortest men’s One Day International ever played in Australia, with only 31 overs bowled in total.
Reflecting on the loss, Windies captain Shai Hope admitted to poor execution by his team on the day. He emphasized the need for improvement, particularly in playing situations and decision-making.
With the series now shifting to the T20 format, Hope stressed the importance of moving past the disappointment of the ODI matches and focusing on the upcoming challenges.
As the West Indies cricket team looks ahead, they will be eager to regroup and deliver better performances in the T20 series.
