Region 10 Children’s Mashramani Celebration Kicks Off with Nursery Schools Display

The Department of Education in Region 10 commenced the Children’s Mashramani competition with an exciting showcase of talent from nursery schools.

The competition, held at LICHAS, featured performances in calypso, dramatic poetry, and dance categories.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Celebrating Our Peoples and Our Prosperity.” Nursery schools from across Region 10, including Ituni, participated in the event, presenting vibrant displays of colors, motions, and creativity.

District Education Officer Primary, Onella Rogers, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the significance of celebrating Mashramani as an expression of Guyanese identity and pride.

The competition opened with a lively calypso performance titled “Let’s Celebrate” by Jakayla Rampersaud from Republic Avenue Nursery.

The dance category, receiving the most entries, delighted the crowd with performances set to fantasy, interpretative, mash, and afro beats.

The young participants showcased their talent and courage, bringing energy and enthusiasm to the event.

The Children’s Mashramani celebration will continue on Thursday with the Primary and Secondary school competitions in dramatic poetry and calypso.

On Friday, February 2, the focus will shift to the Primary and Secondary Dance competitions, featuring categories such as Hip Hop, Masquerade, Physical Display, Jump Rope, and Skip Be Fit.

The region-wide celebration provides a platform for young talents to express themselves and contribute to the vibrant cultural heritage of Guyana.
