Saints S’ Team and GBTI GCC Ladies Clinch Titles in Hockey Tournament

In the Guyana Hockey Board Bounty Farm and Antonio Grille’s One-Day Outdoor Hockey tournament held at the National Stadium Providence on Sunday, both Saints S’ Team and GBTI GCC Ladies emerged as champions in their respective categories.

The Saints S’ Team faced a tough battle in the semifinal against club mates Saints Scorpions.

The match ended in a stalemate in regulation time, and Saints S’ Team secured victory via a penalty shootout, winning 3-2.

In the final, they displayed strong defense, forcing a penalty shootout once again, and successfully defended their title by emerging as back-to-back winners of the outdoor tournament.

Leroy Geer from Saints, honored as the tournament’s most promising player, expressed elation at repeating as champions.

On the women’s side, GBTI GCC overcame Saints Sensations in the final. Alysa Xavier scored six minutes into the fixture, giving GBTI GCC the lead.

Abosaide Cadogan sealed the victory with a spectacular goal in the final minutes, making it 2-0 and allowing GBTI GCC to retain their title. Despite the young Saints group showing strength, GCC’s experience proved decisive.

Abosaide Cadogan was awarded the tournament’s MVP for the women, while Robert France received the MVP honor for the men.

Woodpecker Hikers’ Jasmine Assanah was recognized as the women’s most promising player.

The tournament showcased intense competition, and the champions celebrated their success in the thrilling hockey event.
