STEM enthusiasts and young innovators gathered at the Guyana Marriott Hotel for the Future Innovators Exposition 2024, where groundbreaking creations in various fields, including Drone Soccer, were showcased.
The event, hosted by STEM Guyana, drew hundreds of intrigued attendees, highlighting the expanding talent within the country.
One of the notable highlights of the exposition was the introduction of Drone Soccer, a pioneering initiative launched by STEM Guyana.
Karen Abram, the Director of STEM Guyana, expressed excitement about the Guyana Drone Soccer program becoming a national e-sport.
The program started with four locations and has now expanded to 71 locations across Guyana, with 30 of them being STEM clubs.
The goal is to further grow into a hundred STEM clubs, encouraging young people from across the country to participate in this innovative initiative.
Minister of Public Works, Juana Edghill, who attended the event, acknowledged the vital role that STEM plays in preparing the younger generation for future challenges and opportunities.
She emphasized the importance of changing the way young minds think, stating that transforming thinking can lead to positive changes in living and contribute to Guyana’s modernization and transformation.
Minister Edghill committed to supporting STEM Guyana in developing the minds of the youth in whatever way possible.
The exposition not only showcased technological marvels but also provided an opportunity to understand the impact of STEM programs (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) on the youth.
