St8ment Investment Inc. Granted Second Extension for Bamia/Amelia’s Ward Primary School Completion

St8ment Investment Inc. has secured a second extension for the completion of the Bamia/Amelia’s Ward Primary School.

Originally slated for completion by July 2023, the project is now expected to be finalized by April 2024, according to a statement from the construction company.

Shawnette Fiedtkou reports that the construction of the primary school in Linden, under the Ministry of Local Government, has faced significant setbacks due to labor and material shortages.

General Foreman Akani Blair cited these challenges as the reasons for the delays, but he assured that efforts have intensified to meet the revised completion deadline.

Blair acknowledged the difficulties encountered during the project, stating, “We have had our challenges, but most of the major works are complete, and that brings the optimism in me.” He expressed confidence that there wouldn’t be any major obstacles going forward.

The construction site is currently manned by close to 50 workers, with materials already on-site.

The workforce aims to ensure the quality construction of a structure that will serve the communities in the region.

Blair highlighted that there are job opportunities available for “second finishers,” including tasks such as door handling, lock installation, painting, and masonry.

St8ment Investment Inc. was awarded the contract for the $364 million school construction on November 8, 2021.

Despite the initial deadline challenges, the primary school is expected to accommodate approximately 800 students in 2024.

The Bamia/Amelia’s Ward Primary School is being built in what is considered Guyana’s largest housing scheme.

The extension granted to St8ment Investment Inc. reflects the commitment to overcoming challenges and delivering a quality educational facility for the region.
