Guyana Prepares to Host ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Matches in June

As Guyana gears up to host matches in the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup from June 4 to 20, the Minister of Sport, Charles Ramson Jr., expresses satisfaction with the ongoing preparations at the National Stadium, Providence.

In 2023, officials from the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Cricket West Indies (CWI) conducted a venue inspection tour to assess the facilities and preparations for the tournament.

The minister highlighted the extensive investments made to upgrade the National Stadium, ensuring that the facilities align with the requirements set by the ICC.

Despite the challenges posed by the dynamics of cricket’s growth and technological advancements, Ramson expressed confidence in the progress and emphasized that he is not worried about meeting the standards for hosting the tournament.

Acknowledging the importance of modernization, particularly in terms of technological advancements, the minister assured that necessary steps would be taken to enhance the facility’s capabilities, ensuring optimal coverage of the tournament.

Guyana joins other host nations, including Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago, for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2024.
