The Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) is gearing up for another audit by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) as part of ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with international standards.
This audit follows a previous evaluation in 2020, where the GCAA received a commendable score of 76.9%, indicating improvements in various aspects of industry management.
Juan Edghill, the Minister of Public Works, highlighted ongoing initiatives to align the aviation regulatory body with international standards, considering the increasing activity in Guyana’s airspace with more airlines and aircraft operating.
In addition to regulatory improvements, major upgrades have been undertaken at the Civil Aviation Training School.
The objective is not only to train local aviation professionals but also to meet the demands of a growing aviation sector.
The recent certification of over 30 individuals from Art Williams & Harry Wendt Aeronautical Engineering School reflects the commitment to preparing skilled personnel for the aviation industry.
These measures underscore Guyana’s dedication to ensuring the highest safety and operational standards in civil aviation, contributing to the country’s overall development.
