The “One Guyana King and Queen of the Sand” beach football tournament is gearing up for an exciting finale as Speightland, Dynamo, LA, and DC Ballers secure their spots in the finals.
Minister of Public Works, Juan Edghill, witnessed the intense semifinal matches, setting the stage for an anticipated showdown.
The finals, scheduled for this Saturday, will determine the champions who will claim the coveted trophy and cash prizes.
The semifinal action showcased thrilling performances:
- Speightland vs. Hururu Girls (Women’s Category):
- Speightland’s women secured a spot in the finals with a 3-1 victory over Hururu girls.
- Nikita Wayne netted two goals, and Christina Paul added one for Speightland.
- Nikisha Persaud scored for Hururu.
- DC Ballers vs. YMCA:
- DC Ballers demonstrated their skills, defeating YMCA 2-1.
- Kendolph Lewis scored for the Ballers, and Shawn Lewis scored for YMCA.
- Dynamo vs. Aroima (Women’s Category):
- Dynamo women dominated with a 5-1 win against Aroima.
- Jalade Trim scored three goals, while Sandra Johnson and Glensie Lewis added one each for Dynamo.
- Asanna Williams scored the lone goal for Aroima.
- Platinum vs. LA Ballers:
- The final matchup saw Platinum against LA Ballers, ending with a score of 5-3.
- Marcus Tudor and Tyric McCallister scored two goals each for LA Ballers.
- Kumar Mclean, Isiah Adams, and Oswal Marks registered one goal each for Platinum.
The finals on Saturday will feature female games between Aroima and Hururu, followed by male games with YMCA against Platinum.
The Speightland females will face Dynamo, and LA and DC Ballers males will compete in the first-place games.
A substantial prize pool of over two million dollars is at stake, with the winning male team receiving one million dollars and the female winners securing four hundred thousand dollars.
The second-place teams will also be rewarded.
