Overseas-based national badminton player Narayan Ramdhani recently concluded a highly successful three-day badminton camp at the National Gymnasium, organized by the Guyana Badminton Association (GBA).
The event catered to players at the beginner, intermediate, and senior levels, providing rigorous training to enhance their understanding of the game.
Ramdhani, a renowned player at the national, regional, and international levels currently based in Canada, returned to his hometown to impart his extensive knowledge of badminton to the next generation.
Despite taking a break from the game due to knee surgery, he plans to resume active competition next year.
In an interview with NCN Sport, Ramdhani highlighted the focus of the camp and its positive impact on the GBA academy program supported by the Ministry of Sport and he emphasized the significance of such initiatives in lifting the quality and growth of badminton in Guyana.
The camp, which attracted more than 40 children daily, showcased the promising direction the sport is heading.
Ramdhani expressed his optimism, aiming to host the camp four times in the upcoming year as additional facilities become available.
Looking ahead, Ramdhani commended the efforts of the new executives of the GBA for their work in popularizing the sport.
