GCCI Celebrates Successful Year, Sets Sights on 2024 Development

The Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) celebrated a prosperous year, marking significant achievements in fostering business partnerships and advancing the local business environment.

At the 134th Annual Awards Presentation and Gala Dinner held at the Marriott Hotel, President Kester Hutson expressed the Chamber’s commitment to developing a vibrant and sustainable business sector in Guyana.

President Hutson highlighted the expansion of the Chamber’s membership to over 900 businesses during the year.

He emphasized that business development is now a top priority, and the Chamber plans to be intentional and strategic in its approaches.

Advocacy for stronger policies, provision of excellent services, and access to financial resources will be key focuses.

The Chamber actively engaged with trade missions from the US, UK, Canada, China, Brazil, and other countries, fostering collaborations both in Guyana and overseas.

President Hutson encouraged members to play an active role in taking advantage of available opportunities by participating in various Chamber activities.

In addition to accomplishments like hosting the Small Business Expo, contributing to charitable causes, and consulting on legislation, the GCCI plans to launch a member-to-member discount program aimed at boosting local businesses.

The Awards Presentation recognized outstanding individuals and entities, including Ameir Ahmad, Director of Sheriff Group of Companies, Timothy Tucker, CEO of Rid-O-Pest Inc, Keen360 Inc, Kojac, and the winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award, Ramsay Ali from GMSA.

As the GCCI reflects on a successful 2023, the Chamber envisions an even brighter 2024 for the private sector in Guyana.
