In a somber ceremony, friends, family, and colleagues bid farewell to Brigadier Gary Arlington Beaton, MSM, who served the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) with distinction.

Brigadier Beaton, with a career spanning over three decades, was remembered for his extraordinary achievements and unwavering commitment to service.

Family members and colleagues shared heartfelt memories, emphasizing Brig. Beaton’s ambition, passion, and extraordinary willpower.

Chief of Staff, Brig. Omar Khan, paid tribute to the fallen hero, describing him as a man of character and unshakable integrity.

President Irfaan Ali reflected on Brig. Beaton as an eternal flame of the force, highlighting the impact of his illustrious career.

Brigadier Beaton held various significant posts in the GDF, including Commanding Officer of the 4 Engineers Battalion, Commander of the Engineer Corps (CORE), Adjunct General, and Commandant of the Guyana National Reserve.

He served in capacities at the First Infantry Battalion, Intelligence Corps (CORE), and Defence Headquarters.

Throughout his years of service, Brig. Beaton received numerous accolades, including the Border Defence, Military Efficiency, and anniversary medals (25th, 40th, and 50th), along with the Military Service Medal.

The funeral service, held at the Promenade Gardens, was a poignant moment to honor the life and legacy of a dedicated servant of the nation.
