The National Schools’ Cycling, Swimming, and Track and Field Championships concluded with District 9 (Upper Takutu/Upper Essequibo) emerging as the dominant force in the cycling category.
The inner circuit race, which concluded at the National Park, showcased the cycling prowess of District 9, securing them the cycling title.
Cycling Results:
- District 9: 225 points (1st place)
- District 10: 201 points (2nd place)
- District 6: 157 points (3rd place)
District 9’s cyclists excelled, bagging an impressive 14 gold medals, along with five silver and one bronze.
Notable performances came from Lelian Jordan, who clinched victory in three events, and Rayane Thomas and Maggie Joseph, each securing two event wins in the women’s category.
In the Boys 5000M Open race, Ajani Cutting of District 14 claimed the gold medal, followed by Alexander Leung (District 11) in second and Sidwell Sandy from District 6 in third.

In the Girls U-14 category, Lilane Thomas stood out with gold medals in the 1500M, 2000M, and 1000M events.
Maggie Joseph showcased her prowess in the 800M and 400M events, dominating the Girls U14 category.
Swimming Results: Meanwhile, in the swimming segment, District 11 (North Georgetown) demonstrated superior talent in the pool, retaining their title at the 61st edition of the National Schools’ Cycling, Swimming, and Track and Field Championships.
The competition, held at the National Aquatic Centre in Liliendaal, saw District 11 securing the top spot, with District 10 (Upper Demerara/Kwakwani) in second and East Georgetown (District 12) in third.
The championships highlighted the athleticism and competitive spirit of students across various districts, fostering a platform for young talents to shine.
