Guyana’s Health Minister, Dr. Frank Anthony, has announced plans to partner with European companies to acquire technical machinery and tools crucial for the healthcare sector.
The move aims to enhance the country’s healthcare infrastructure and provide essential technologies for a world-class healthcare system.
With 350 health posts, 22 district hospitals, and 10 regional hospitals in Guyana, Dr. Anthony emphasized the importance of not only building infrastructure but also acquiring necessary technologies.
As part of this initiative, the government intends to purchase additional CT scans, x-ray systems, MRI machines, and other technologies from European companies that participated in the European Union Economic Mission to Guyana.
Moreover, the government plans to establish a Bio-medical hub equipped with the technologies necessary for vaccine and medicine production.
The hub, once constructed, will be open for use by international companies specializing in medicine. Dr. Anthony encouraged the visiting delegation from European countries to consider investing in this project.
The mission involved twenty-three companies from ten European member states, expressing eagerness to explore, invest, and foster business partnerships in Guyana.
Participating countries included the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Finland, Spain, Italy, Austria, Sweden, Ireland, and France.
