Contracts Signed for 27 Kilometers of Roads in Region Seven

Over one billion dollars in contracts have been signed for road works in Region Seven, with over 27 kilometers of roads set to be constructed.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Public Works Minister Juan Edghill.

The contracts, totaling 17, will contribute to the development of infrastructure in the region.

Minister Edghill urged the contractors to prioritize efficiency in their construction process to ensure that residents can benefit from improved roads in time for the festive season.

Minister Edghill also emphasized the importance of adhering to specifications and using approved materials.

He highlighted the need for a culture shift in the construction industry to support the country’s development.

The road projects include the Bartica/Potaro Road, main access roads at Dagg Point, Issano, Mora Point, and several other internal and main access roads.

The construction will involve both concrete and asphaltic roads.

This initiative adds to the ongoing road development projects in various regions, including 287 roads in Region 6, 62 in Region 10, 33 in Essequibo, 220 on the East Coast of Demerara, and 100 along the East Bank of Demerara.
