AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum 2023: A Remarkable Success

The AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum 2023 (ACTIF 2023) has been hailed as a ‘resounding success’ by Guyana’s Finance Minister, Dr. Ashni Singh.

The event, held at the Marriott Hotel, saw participation from over 1,500 attendees representing 33 different countries.

During a closing press conference, Dr. Singh emphasized that the forum provided a significant opportunity to strengthen economic ties and build on historical connections between Africa and the Caribbean.

Benedict Oramah, President of the African Export-Import Bank (AfreximBank), highlighted that the forum solidified the bank’s efforts to enhance the AfriCaribbean relationship.

He underscored the importance of developing payment systems as the next step in strengthening bilateral ties.

The second AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum, hosted by the Government of Guyana in collaboration with Afreximbank, took place from October 30-31.

The event witnessed the signing of various deals for developmental projects in several CARICOM countries.

Guyana, in particular, secured funding of $500 million USD for critical infrastructure projects.

The resounding success of ACTIF 2023 reflects a significant step forward in strengthening economic ties between Africa and the Caribbean, setting the stage for enhanced collaboration and development opportunities.
