The Countering Aviation Security Ecosystem Threats (CASET) workshop has commenced at Herdmanston Lodge in Georgetown.
The workshop, held in collaboration with the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism, the Organization of American States (OAS), and the Civil Aviation Authority, aims to foster collaboration within the aviation sector.
Hon. Juan Edghill, Minister of Public Works, emphasized the pivotal role of aviation security in maintaining safety within the sector.
He highlighted that the training would equip individuals not only with tools and information but also with the know-how to operate in an environment that ensures safety.
Lt. Col. Egbert Fields, Director General of the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority, encouraged participants to generate new ideas to enhance aviation security and overall security in Guyana.
The CASET workshop forms part of a broader initiative addressing both internal and external threats to civil aviation in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Guyana’s active participation in regional cooperation mechanisms demonstrates its unwavering commitment to aviation security.
