Investments in education continue to positively impact the lives of children in Region Three.
The Leonora Secondary School welcomed two new dormitories and the Stewartville Secondary School inaugurated a cutting-edge Smart Classroom, all commissioned on Monday.
The male and female dormitories at Leonora Secondary, constructed at a cost of $75 million, will provide accommodation for 23 students, facilitating easier access to education for those hailing from nine communities.
Education Minister Priya Manickchand emphasized the strategic location of the dorms, ensuring proximity to essential facilities like hospitals, fire stations, and police stations.
The dorms are also equipped with fire prevention tools and other amenities.
Simultaneously, the Stewartville Secondary School introduced a state-of-the-art Smart Classroom, integrating technology into the educational system.
This facility boasts an interactive board, audio system, smart cameras, and wireless television, enabling seamless communication between teachers and students.
Minister Manickchand highlighted that this initiative aims to bridge educational disparities, ensuring quality education reaches every region.
The government’s commitment to achieving universal education in Guyana encompasses school construction and rehabilitation, establishment of smart classrooms, and access to learning materials.
By the end of this year, an additional 25 smart classrooms are slated to be established in secondary schools nationwide.
