The Annual Dentex Convention for Dental Extenders, hosted by the Ministry of Health at the Regency Hotel, saw participation from over 100 dental professionals.
Health Minister Dr. Frank Anthony emphasized the importance of continuous education programs in dentistry.
He urged the Dental Council to consider making such programs compulsory, and stated that if legislative changes were required to facilitate this, it would be seriously contemplated.
These training initiatives will be conducted through the ministry’s training arm, with future plans to seek accreditation for conventions and conferences.
Dr. Anthony also announced an upgrade to dentistry services at the Cheddi Jagan Dental School. Some outdated techniques will be modernized to enhance the range of services provided.
The minister also stressed the significance of quality control in dental training and management positions.
