Guyana Harpy Eagles Ready for Super 50 Cup Challenge

The Guyana Harpy Eagles are geared up for the CG United Regional Super 50 cup, set to take place in Trinidad on Saturday. Ryan Hercules, head coach of the senior men’s team, emphasized the team’s focus areas as they enter the tournament with the intention of clinching the Super 50 title.

The squad conducted two practice matches this week to fine-tune their preparations for the 50-over regional tournament.

Hercules highlighted that particular attention was given to batting during these matches.

The team emphasized the importance of batsmen scoring big while working collectively to reduce their dot ball percentage.

Hercules, formerly an assistant coach with the CPL-winning Amazon Warriors, expressed the coaching staff’s determination to instill a winning mindset at every stage of the innings to maximize the team’s runs.

With the experience the team has gained this year, Hercules believes they are well-positioned to perform strongly in the tournament.

The 50-over tournament is scheduled to commence in Trinidad on Tuesday, October 17, with the opening match between the home side Trinidad & Tobago Red Force and Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) at the Queen’s Park Oval (QPO) at 9 a.m.

Following this, the Guyana Harpy Eagles will face off against the Windward Islands Volcanoes at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy (BLCA) at 1 p.m.

This year’s premier 50-over tournament in the region will run until Saturday, November 11, featuring a new eight-team league format followed by Semi-Finals and Finals to determine the Champions.
