Trinidadian Manufacturers Encouraged to Invest in Guyana

In a bid to strengthen bilateral ties and foster joint business ventures, Trinidadian businesses and manufacturers are being urged to invest in Guyana.

The call was made during a Business Seminar organized by the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association, which was part of a visiting delegation’s agenda.

Foreign Secretary Robert Persaud emphasized the opportune moment for Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers to establish their industries in Guyana.

He pointed out that beyond serving the Guyanese market, there exists a substantial market in South America that could be tapped into.

“We want Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers to look at Guyana as a place in which they should establish their industries, their manufacturing facilities.

Not only to supply the Guyanese market but the huge market that exists within South America,” Persaud stated.

He further encouraged a shift towards fewer exports from Trinidad and Tobago to Guyana by manufacturers, highlighting the potential for mutually beneficial collaborations.

Roger Roach, President of the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association, emphasized the synergy between the two nations.

Guyana possesses abundant land resources, while Trinidad boasts expertise in manufacturing. Roach stressed the need for entities to come together and capitalize on this longstanding opportunity.

The TTMA delegation, comprising over 35 businesses, is on a three-day visit to Guyana.

They have scheduled meetings with local firms to explore partnership opportunities.

These collaborations, initiated last year, have already shown promising outcomes.

The Business Seminar, held at Park Rayne Inn in Ruimveldt, featured presentations by the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association (GMSA), Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS), Food and Drug Analyst (FDA), and Go Invest.
