In a significant move to empower local entrepreneurs, 400 residents of Region Ten, including Linden and Riverain communities, have been awarded small business grants under the Sustainable Livelihood and Entrepreneurial Development (SLED) program.
This initiative is designed to stimulate economic growth and support the expansion of existing businesses.
Recipients expressed their gratitude for the grants, emphasizing the positive impact on their ventures. Kenrick Declou, a resident of Coomacka Mines, highlighted plans to enhance his shop and extend his pig pen.
Similarly, Beverly Julian, a resident of Ituni, emphasized the benefits for her family from rearing animals.
Vice President Dr. Bharat Jagdeo reiterated the government’s commitment to fulfilling promises and outlined a long-term plan for transforming Guyana.
He also announced upcoming projects, including the commencement of the 1000 Homes initiative and the repaving of the Linden-Soesdyke highway.
This boost to small businesses in Region Ten is part of a broader effort to drive economic development and improve the livelihoods of Guyanese citizens.
