In a spectacular display of talent and execution, Stella Maris Primary School emerged as the undefeated champions in the inaugural ExxonMobil-sponsored Future Warriors Tape Ball Tournament, held at the Guyana Defence Force ground.
Their victory has secured them a spot under the banner of the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League’s Guyana Amazon Warriors for the home leg.
In the final, FE Pollard posted a competitive total of 46 for 2 in their allotted overs, with Devante Primo leading the charge with an impressive 24-ball 39. Stella Maris’ Errol Marslow took one wicket for 10 runs.
Stella Maris responded assertively, with Brandon Frank and Tafari Softleigh forming a formidable partnership to chase down the target in just 3 overs, securing a commanding 9-wicket victory. Frank’s blistering innings included three sixes and two fours, amassing 28 runs from 10 balls, while Softleigh contributed 19 runs from 8 deliveries.
Earlier in the tournament, FE Pollard advanced to the final after a narrow victory over St Pius by a margin of 3 runs. Devante Primo’s stellar performance with 32 runs led FE Pollard to a total of 55 for 2, and they successfully defended it as they restricted St Pius to 52 for 4 in their allotted 8 overs.
During the round-robin stage, Stella Maris, led by Brandon Frank, secured victories over both FE Pollard and St Pius. In their encounter with FE Pollard, Tafari Softleigh’s explosive 29-ball 63 and Brandon Frank’s unbeaten 33 powered Stella Maris to an impressive total of 103 without loss. They then defended their score by limiting FE Pollard to 39 for 5 from their 8 overs.
