In a night filled with competitive grace and elegance, Lisa Narine of Pomeroon-Supenaam emerged as the new Miss Guyana Universe 2023. The crowning ceremony took place at the Marriott Hotel on Saturday evening, where Narine surpassed nine other delegates to claim the prestigious title.
Narine, a 26-year-old creative coordinator, radio host, entrepreneur, and advocate, demonstrated exceptional poise and charisma throughout the pageant. Her experience in pageantry, including earning the title of first runner-up in both Miss Glocal International 2021 and Miss India Guyana 2021, undoubtedly contributed to her success. Notably, Narine also secured titles for High Point Interview, Swimwear, and Evening Gown.
Speaking with NCN News, Narine expressed her elation at achieving her primary pageant goal, emphasizing her desire to showcase the heart of Guyana and the beauty of its people to the world.
This year’s pageant marked a significant milestone as it was the first to be organized by US-based talent acquisition leader and award-winning pageant director, Teri Brown-Walker, after a five-year hiatus. Brown-Walker, in an interview with NCN News, underscored that obtaining the Guyana franchise was a testament to her commitment to reinstating Guyanese excellence in high-level pageantry.
As Lisa Narine begins preparations for the next phase of the competition, which will culminate in El Salvador, Brown-Walker assured that an award-winning team will dedicate the next two months to ensuring she is well-prepared.
The first runner-up was Lieve Blanckaert of Georgetown, followed by Chandini Baljor of Essequibo Islands-West Demerara as the second runner-up. The top five finalists also included Colline Ward of Bartica and Melissa McLean of La Parfaite Harmonie.
This crowning moment not only celebrates the individual achievement of Lisa Narine but also highlights the excellence and potential within the Guyanese pageant community.
