Last month, the Rose Hall Estate conducted a successful steam trial, a significant step towards its official reopening for the second crop of the year.

During the trial, approximately 10 punts of sugarcane were crushed successfully, and various other works were tested and verified.

Minister Mustapha expressed his satisfaction with the progress, stating that the estate’s reopening aligns with the government’s commitment to revitalize the sugar industry, as outlined in their manifesto.

The significant investments, totaling billions of dollars, have resulted in increased production, raising expectations for higher productivity levels.

A total of 561 million dollars has been injected this year to continue the rehabilitation efforts at the Rose Hall Sugar Estate.

The dedicated investments have contributed to the estate’s readiness to resume operations in the upcoming sugar crop season.

With the estate’s scheduled opening in October, it is expected that around 3,000 acres of sugarcane will be sown for the second crop.

The reopening of Rose Hall Sugar Estate represents a significant milestone for the local sugar industry, offering hope for sustained growth and prosperity in the region.
