The Ministry of Health (MOH) is calling for applications from individuals interested in pursuing a career as Medical Laboratory Technicians.
Health Education Officer, Kim Bristol, announced that the Medical Laboratory Technician program has been condensed to enhance its efficiency without compromising the program’s quality.
The newly designed one-year training program is a response to the pressing need for skilled medical lab technicians in the country. Bristol reassured potential applicants that the curriculum underwent comprehensive review, ensuring that the shorter duration does not compromise the program’s standards.
Eligibility for the Medical Laboratory Technician program requires a minimum of four CXC subjects, including Mathematics, English, and Science.
These subjects are vital due to the nature of the course, which involves extensive calculations and analysis.
Preferred science subjects include Integrated Science, Human and Social Biology, or Chemistry.
However, the MOH has also considered candidates who might not have all the necessary subjects, providing an alternative pathway through the GED (General Educational Development) offered under the Goal Scholarship.
Applicants must be within the age range of 18 to 35 to be eligible for the program.
The deadline for submitting applications is July 21.
