The Digicel School Football Championship continued Wednesday with matches held in Regions 3, 4, and 5.
In the Region 4 – East Bank Segment, Alpine Academy secured a 2-0 win over Friendship Secondary at the Ministry of Education ground. The goal scorers for Alpine Academy were Antwone Denny and Keyron Williams. Covent Garden and Houston played out a 1-1 draw.
In addition, in the Region 4 – Division covering East Coast Demerara, President College defeated Bladen Hall 2-1 at the Buxton ground, with Michael Joseph scoring a double. Bygeval emerged victorious with a 2-1 win over Lo-Bonne Intention, courtesy of goals from Deandrea Pierre and Carl Nunes.
Region 3, Essequibo Islands faced a tough match against Zeeburg, losing 6-0 at the Leonora ground. Akeino Abrams scored four goals, while Mark Medas and Sydell Joseph added two more for Zeeburg. West Minister outplayed Blackett Stewartville with a 6-2 victory. Dorwin George recorded a hat-trick, while Teyon Kennedy, Ezra Clarke, and Ezekiel Caesar also found the back of the net.
Representing Region 5, Fraser’s Educational Institute and Fort Wellington played to a 1-1 draw at the Rosignol ground. Bush Lot emerged triumphant in a penalty shootout against Rosignol after the match ended 1-1 in regulation time. The final score in the shootout was 8-7 in favor of Bush Lot.
The Digicel School Football Championship continues to provide an opportunity for young talents to showcase their skills. The matches witnessed intense competition as teams from different regions vied for victory.
