82 Students Graduate from Ministry of Health’s Clinical and Technical Training Program

A graduation ceremony was held today at the Atlantic Ballroom, Pegasus Suites, where 82 students successfully completed the Ministry of Health’s Clinical and Technical Training program, marking a significant milestone for the country’s expanding healthcare workforce.

The graduates included 25 X-ray technicians, 28 Environmental Health Assistants, 16 Dentex, and 13 Pharmacy Assistants, with two students from the Belize Defence Force also among the graduates.

Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony, delivered the feature address, offering congratulations to the graduates and encouraging them to see this as just one step in their journey.

He emphasized the importance of continued education and hard work to achieve future success, wishing them well as they embark on their careers in healthcare.

Health Education Officer, Chandroutie Bahadur, presented the Ministry’s program report, highlighting the significant expansion of the Clinical and Technical Training program.

She noted that the department had evolved from graduating 35 pharmacy assistants annually to 64 in 2024, with an additional 71 students set to complete their training in 2025, totaling 135 graduates.

The program also saw a notable increase in the training of medical lab technicians and community health workers.

Bahadur also pointed out the pivotal timing of this cohort’s graduation, as six new hospitals are currently under construction, further supporting the government’s mission to expand healthcare services nationwide.

The ceremony marks a significant step in strengthening the healthcare sector as Guyana continues to invest in its medical workforce.
