The Ministry of Housing and Water recently distributed 800 house lots to individuals residing along the East Coast of Demerara.
This allocation took place during the Central Housing and Planning Authority’s second East Coast Dream Realised Housing Drive of 2023.
The house lots were granted to low and moderate-income earners living in the East Coast of Demerara region.
The recipients will now have the opportunity to acquire lands situated in Block E and F of Good Hope, Two Friends, and Lusignan.
Prior to the allocation, the designated areas underwent preparatory work, including the establishment of drainage systems and road networks.
In addition, Housing and Water Minister, Collin Croal announced that new wells will be drilled soon to ensure the provision of potable water to the beneficiaries.
Moreover, Minister Susan Rodrigues, who serves as the minister within the ministry, also noted that the region is earmarked for extensive infrastructural development.
Among the plans, five lots have been reserved for the construction of religious institutions, while 12 lots are allocated for government agencies. Numerous other lots will cater to commercial and industrial activities.
Since assuming office in 2020, the Ministry of Housing and Water has allocated approximately 24,000 house lots, bringing the government closer to achieving its manifesto commitment of providing 50,000 house lots by 2025.
