$80 Million Health Centre Opens in North East La Penitence

By Celestine Chacon | January 6, 2025

A newly refurbished health centre, costing $80 million, was officially opened today to serve residents of North East La Penitence, East Ruimveldt, Lamaha Park, and the surrounding communities.

The upgraded facility is expected to benefit over 7,600 individuals, providing improved primary healthcare services.

The refurbishment was spearheaded by the Ministry of Health after the APNU-controlled City Council, which oversees the area, was unable to complete necessary upgrades.

With the health centre now fully operational, it is equipped with modern amenities, ensuring a more accessible and patient-friendly environment for the community.

The opening ceremony saw local government representatives express their satisfaction with the facility’s transformation, emphasizing that it reflects the government’s commitment to providing quality healthcare to all citizens, particularly those in underserved areas.

The health centre now offers a safe, modern setting staffed by experienced professionals, with the aim of delivering essential healthcare services in a timely and respectful manner.
