Doreen Yansen, aged 79, achieved her long-held aspiration of owning a home in Vigilance, East Coast Demerara, thanks to the Men on Mission (MoM) initiative.
The MoM team handed over a newly constructed two-bedroom, 20×30 single-story house equipped with essential utilities to Yansen.
After applying for a house lot in 1974 and facing multiple challenges, Yansen finally secured her lot in 2021.
Her dream became a reality with the support of MoM, marking a significant milestone in her life.
Minister of Health, Dr. Frank Anthony, attended the handover event, offering words of encouragement to Yansen as she embarks on this new chapter.
The initiative, spearheaded by President Dr. Irfaan Ali, aims to empower vulnerable communities across Guyana through collaborative efforts by men.
Beyond providing shelter, MoM initiatives like Yansen’s new home contribute to community development and empowerment.
The initiative not only fulfills housing needs but also brings hope and security to individuals like Yansen, underscoring MoM’s commitment to community upliftment.
