In a significant improvement for road safety, Division Ten has reported a remarkable 75% decrease in accidents compared to the same period last year.
Inspector Sherwin Henry, Traffic Chief of Division Ten, shared these statistics, highlighting the efforts and impact of ongoing educational initiatives by the Police.
In 2023, there was one fatal accident recorded during the first half of the year, with a similar occurrence in 2024.
Serious accidents decreased from nine in 2023 to just one in 2024, while incidents of damaged accidents reduced from nine to two, demonstrating substantial progress in road safety within the division.
Inspector Henry attributed most incidents to the Amelia’s Ward public road and emphasized the continuation of awareness campaigns to promote responsible driving behavior.
He urged drivers to prioritize caution, even when having the right of way, emphasizing the importance of speed control and adherence to traffic signals.
Additionally, the Traffic Department remains vigilant in enforcing laws, particularly targeting motorcyclists without helmets.
Inspector Henry issued a stern warning to parents against allowing underage children to operate vehicles, stressing the importance of safety compliance.
The efforts of the Police in Division Ten underscore their commitment to reducing road accidents through education, enforcement, and community engagement.
