A total of 72 nursing students celebrated their graduation at the 24th biennial graduation ceremony of Charles Roza School of Nursing.
The event, held at Philu’s Entertainment World, marked the successful completion of various programs, including registered nursing, nursing assistants, Medex, and post-basic nursing programs.
These graduates are now certified to provide essential services in the Health Sector.
The feature address at the ceremony was delivered by Dr. Leslie Ramsammy, Advisor to the Minister of Health.
Dr. Ramsammy announced plans to enhance the nursing school with modern technology through the Ministry of Health. He explained that this technological upgrade aims to provide students with the latest tools and resources for training, ensuring they are well-equipped to meet the evolving demands of the healthcare field.
Nicola Nero, the Technical Officer at the Ministry of Health and Head of the Guyana Nursing Council, emphasized the importance of delivering excellent patient care in the public health sector.
Nero charged the newly graduated health professionals to uphold the highest standards of patient care, contributing to the improvement of healthcare services in the country.
Among the accomplished graduates, Onissi Anthony, who completed the Professional Nursing Program and is now a registered nurse, received the honour of being named the 2023 valedictorian.
Anthony’s exceptional performance was recognized, along with that of other outstanding students, who received special awards for their remarkable achievements.
The graduation ceremony served as a proud moment for the Charles Roza School of Nursing and the entire healthcare community, and with the introduction of smart technology, the institution aims to further elevate nursing education, equipping future nurses with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their careers and make a positive impact on the healthcare sector in Guyana.
