The 4th International Karate Daigaku (IKD) World Cup and Grand Benefit Gala officially began today at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue, Georgetown.

Running from July 18 to 21, this prestigious event celebrates the 60-year legacy of ShusekiShihan Dr. Frank Woon-A-Tai, the 10th Dan and chief instructor of the IKD.

The grand opening featured vibrant cultural performances and a lively gathering of participants from around the globe.

Throughout the week, attendees will experience high-level karate competitions, showcasing top talents in various categories and age groups.

The Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sport, the primary sponsor, emphasized the significance of hosting such an international event in Guyana.

The IKD World Cup not only fosters international cultural exchange but also supports karate development through the Grand Benefit Gala, which honors key contributors to the sport.
