As part of the Ministry of Housing and Water’s ongoing ‘Dream Realised’ housing initiative, 400 Linden residents were allocated house lots in the Fitz Hope area of Amelia’s Ward.
The allocations took place on the lawns of the Watooka Guest House on Friday, marking another significant step in the government’s efforts to address housing needs in the region.
Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal, announced that this marks the final phase for Amelia’s Ward with lots under the Ministry’s purview.
He noted that the government has been working diligently to clear the backlog of house lot requests, emphasizing that availability of land remains a key factor in the process.
The last allocation in Amelia’s Ward was completed in 2021.
During his address, Minister Croal also cautioned against illegal squatting, highlighting that such actions are irresponsible and should be avoided.
New landowners expressed their excitement and gratitude for the allocations.
Leesa Robertson, Keon Billey, and Delbert Kitt, all first-time house lot recipients, shared their enthusiasm, with Robertson calling the experience “good” and Billey expressing thanks to the government for the opportunity.
This housing initiative is the second in a week, with a total of 1,000 house lots allocated across Linden.
Minister Croal mentioned that there are more lots available in Wismar and promised additional housing drives in the near future.
This effort underscores the government’s commitment to improving housing accessibility and meeting the growing demand for land across the country.
