Forty individuals in Region Three are now equipped with new skills and certifications after completing training programs offered by the Ministry of Labour’s Board of Industrial Training (BIT).
The graduation ceremony took place today, celebrating the achievements of participants trained in Heavy-Duty Equipment Operation and Electrical Installation.
Nineteen graduates completed training in Electrical Installation, while 22 were certified in Heavy-Duty Equipment Operation.
The training was conducted at the Leonora Technical Institute and the Sabeelur Rashaad Islamic Training Center.
The graduates expressed their gratitude and shared plans for their futures. Among them was Natasha Nebblet, who intends to further her knowledge in electrical studies.
Mohammed Halley, another graduate, emphasized his passion for advocacy, noting that his certification will allow him to teach others and help them develop their skills.
Meanwhile, Raymond Williams highlighted how the program will improve his ability to provide for his family with better earning opportunities.
Onaia Roberts, a graduate of the Heavy-Duty Equipment Operation program, encouraged young women and single parents to take advantage of the free courses offered by BIT.
She emphasized that these programs provide valuable opportunities for personal and professional growth.
This year, BIT invested approximately $16 million in Region Three. From 2020 to 2024, a total of 1,133 individuals in the region graduated from various programs, with 136 completing their training in 2024 alone.
These initiatives continue to empower individuals by providing them with the skills and certifications needed to improve their livelihoods and contribute to Guyana’s workforce development.
