A new mentorship programme under the Men on Mission (M.O.M) initiative, envisioned by President Dr. Irfaan Ali, is set to benefit 40 children.

This youth empowerment initiative is designed to support children aged 5-14, helping to develop mindsets that contribute to family empowerment, community transformation, and overall economic development.

The programme will commence on June 1, involving one-on-one discussions with notable mentors, including President Ali, Chief of Defence Staff of the Guyana Defence Force Omar Khan, and Commissioner of Police Clifton Hicken, among others.

The children will receive daily nutritious meals, supervision for homework, extra lessons provided by the School of the Nations, and support for any talents or skills they possess.

Recognizing the challenges faced in vulnerable communities, President Ali emphasized the importance of mentoring these children to shape their futures.

“As we build this programme, we are investing in the future of our nation,” President Ali stated.

Members of the private sector have also offered their full support for the initiative, contributing their time and resources.

Vishok Persaud, a representative from ENET, highlighted the private sector’s commitment, stating, “Progress is measured by how we contribute differently to our society.”

The mentorship sessions will be held at the President’s Kitchen on Main and New Market Streets in the evenings after school and will be supported by the First Family.

This programme is designed to last until the children complete their CSEC exams, encouraging them to pursue further education.

This initiative represents a collaborative effort to provide a foundation of support and guidance for the children, aiming to create a positive impact on their lives and future prospects.
