35 Graduates Bolster Guyana’s Aviation Sector with Diverse Skillsets

Guyana’s aviation landscape is experiencing rapid growth, with 35 individuals recently graduating with certificates in various disciplines within the aviation sector.

The graduation ceremony, held at the Air Navigation Services Control Tower in Timehri, marks a significant milestone for the Civil Aviation Training School, showcasing its enhanced capacity to empower professionals in the aviation industry.

Minister Juan Edghill, who oversees the aviation sector, commended the graduates for their accomplishments, emphasizing the pivotal role they play in the country’s burgeoning aviation industry.

He underscored the importance of possessing the necessary skill sets to ensure the safety and confidence of travelers.

Furthermore, Minister Edghill revealed plans to establish a dedicated space for training under the auspices of the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), reflecting the government’s commitment to furthering aviation education and proficiency.

Addressing the graduates, Lieutenant Colonel Egbert Fields, Director General of the GCAA, emphasized the challenges and responsibilities inherent in being an Air Traffic Controller.

He urged the graduates to prioritize efficiency, proficiency, and overall well-being, recognizing the demanding nature of their roles.

The graduates completed comprehensive training programs encompassing area control, aerodrome control, flight information and alerting services, procedural surveillance, and ab initio general training.

Their diverse skillsets are poised to make a substantial contribution to the dynamic field of aviation in Guyana.
