The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has been allocated $34.4 billion in the 2025 national budget to enhance its operations, infrastructure, and resources.
This was announced by Senior Minister in the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance and Public Service, Dr. Ashni Singh.
Since the government’s return to office in 2020, numerous projects have been undertaken to upgrade the Force’s infrastructure.
These include the construction, reconstruction, and rehabilitation of 23 police stations and 14 key buildings.
Additionally, five command operation centers, five divisional headquarters, four IT training complexes, and five living quarters have been built.
To further advance these efforts, $4.7 billion has been allocated for infrastructural works in 2025, following a $5.2 billion investment in 2024.
A major project in this year’s budget is the development of a modern police training campus along the Linden-Soesdyke Highway.
A total of $597 million has been designated to advance works on this facility, along with the completion of the Division 6 Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters and the Tactical Services Unit.
In addition to infrastructure, $2 billion has been allocated to expand the GPF’s transport fleet, ensuring officers are better equipped to respond to security needs across the country.
These investments aim to modernize the GPF, strengthen law enforcement capabilities, and enhance public safety in Guyana.
