The Board of Industrial Training (BIT) continues its mission to upskill Guyanese to meet the labor demands across the country.

Last Tuesday marked the commencement of the Heavy-Duty Equipment Operation (HDEO) Training program, with 32 individuals enrolled.

This diverse group includes recent school graduates and nurses, all eager to develop new skills.

The program began with an address from Labour Minister Joseph Hamilton, who highlighted the comprehensive nature of the training.

The program not only aims to provide a certificate but also ensures participants receive licensing to operate heavy-duty equipment.

Additionally, forklift operation has been included in the curriculum, enabling trainees to acquire skills in operating three types of heavy-duty machinery.

Director of the Board of Industrial Training, Richard Vaughn, also spoke to the participants, emphasizing the importance of fully engaging with the training to gain confidence and competence in their new skills.

In related news, another batch of trainees who recently completed the program will be graduating on Friday.

Over the past three and a half years, BIT has trained more than 11,500 individuals, demonstrating its significant impact on workforce development in Guyana.
