-to aid in reducing food import bill by 25 percent
Region 10 is being positioned to play a major role in expanding Guyana’s food production and will increase the country’s share of the Regional market as CARICOM works to cut its food import bill by 25 percent. This is according to Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha.

Minister Mustapha, while addressing a crowd in Linden, Region 10, posited that the Government plans to transform agriculture in that Region, an which will result in Region 10 playing a crucial role in Guyana’s efforts to help the Caribbean achieve this 25 percent reduction.
The Minister reminded residents and farmers that Region Ten has already received significant investment under the PPP/C administration and is becoming an increasingly important part of Guyana’s food production efforts.
Meanwhile, the Agriculture Minister also confirmed that the Naibingi Association’s request for a shade house has been approved and it will be delivered shortly.
