The Ministry of Public Works has initiated pre-condition property surveying for the East Bank Demerara road improvement project, spanning from Good Success to Timehri.
The survey aims to document the current state of infrastructural conditions along the roadway, encompassing interior and exterior aspects of properties such as walls, walkways, fences, and bridges.
Surveyors are seeking permission from property owners to capture visual documentation, which includes taking photographs, and individuals must consent by signing a formal consent form.
Public Works Minister Juan Edghill emphasized the significance of these surveys in preventing future disputes over compensation for structures built along the road reserve after project announcements.
He noted that previous surveys had already identified potential obstructions, ensuring preparedness for the project’s execution phase.
The pre-condition surveying of properties will continue until July 30, paving the way for physical roadworks to commence on August 1, according to Minister Edghill.
The $76 million USD project is slated for completion within a 36-month timeframe and spans approximately 24 kilometers, divided into three sections: Section A (Good Success to Supply), Section B (Supply to Soesdyke), and Section C (Soesdyke to Timehri).
