19th Diamond Mineral Water Hockey Festival Set to Thrill Spectators

The National Gymnasium is poised to host an exhilarating display of hockey prowess as the 19th edition of the Diamond Mineral Water Hockey Festival kicks off on November 30, commencing at 17:00 hours.

Some of the most formidable teams in the region are geared up to compete, promising a highly competitive and thrilling tournament.

Tricia Fiedtkou, Vice President of the Guyana Hockey Board (GHB), expressed her anticipation for closely contested matches during this year’s festival.

Reflecting on the past, she remarked, “It gives me great joy to see the level of competition in the past.”

Demerara Distillers Limited’s Brand Manager, Larry Wills, underscored the company’s unwavering commitment to the tournament for nearly two decades.

He emphasized the significant impact of the partnership with the Guyana Hockey Board.

ExxonMobil Guyana’s Community Relations Advisor, Ryan Hoppie, shared that sponsoring the tournament aligns with the company’s mandate to enhance community development through sports.

He emphasized that this support contributes to the overall prosperity of the communities involved.

A total of 15 teams, including several overseas contenders, will compete in various categories.

Teams such as Pepsi Hikers, Bounty GCC, YMCA Old Fort, and Saints male and female teams are expected to deliver an outstanding display of skill and sportsmanship.

As the tournament unfolds, spectators can anticipate thrilling matches, fierce competition, and memorable moments on the hockey court.
