The 17th Berbice Exposition and Trade Fair, organized by the Central Corentyne Chamber of Commerce, has opened its doors to showcase the vast potential of the region.
Prime Minister Brig. Retired Mark Phillips, in attendance at the inaugural event, highlighted its significance in attracting investors and fostering development.
The Prime Minister expressed the government’s satisfaction in partnering with the Chamber to make the Expo and Trade Fair an annual event.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to accelerating development, with all ten administrative regions set to benefit.
Prime Minister Phillips also noted Guyana’s ongoing substantial economic growth, which has led to increased investor interest in the country.
Oneidge Walrond, Minister of Tourism, Industry, and Commerce, emphasized the abundant investment opportunities in tourism and other sectors arising from the development in Berbice.
Leekha Ramrich, President of the Central Corentyne Chamber of Commerce, pledged continued collaboration with the government to achieve the target of reducing the food import bill by 25 percent by 2025.
The event also recognized several outstanding farmers for their contributions, as well as the top five National Grade Six Assessment students of Region six.
