The Ministry of Education commissioned a new $17 million Industrial Technology Department at Patentia Secondary School in Region Three.
The facility, inaugurated by Minister of Education Priya Manickchand, aims to enhance technical and vocational education for students from Grades 7 to 11.
During the ceremony, Minister Manickchand emphasized the importance of adequate infrastructure in achieving educational success. “I hear people saying buildings are not education, and they are right, but you need a building to start the education process,” she noted, underscoring the Ministry’s commitment to supporting students’ growth.
Lavern Carryl, Head Teacher of Patentia Secondary School, expressed optimism about the department’s potential to foster the development of both students and staff.
“This new facility is a symbol of our vision for the future and reflects our commitment to continuous growth,” Carryl remarked.
The new Industrial Technology Department aligns with the Ministry’s broader mission to produce well-rounded graduates equipped for societal contribution, further solidifying the role of technical and vocational education in the national curriculum.
