At just 16 years old, Jahmani Duncan is in his final year at the University of Guyana, where he is pursuing an Associate Degree in Mathematics.
Despite his young age, Jahmani has already achieved significant academic milestones, including securing ten subjects at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) exams by the age of 15.
Jahmani, who attended St. Stanislaus College, sat for his CSEC exams through Global Technology, earning six subjects in his first sitting and four in his second.
Now, as he begins his second year at the university, he remains undecided about his exact career path but is certain that it will involve mathematics.
The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted Jahmani’s traditional secondary school experience, limiting face-to-face interactions with peers and teachers.
Like many students, he found the shift to virtual learning challenging.
Jahmani admitted that adjusting to online classes was difficult and affected his grades initially.
However, these obstacles motivated him to focus on his CSEC exams and excel.
Now thriving in his university studies, Jahmani is eager to complete his associate’s degree in mathematics.
